French Press

What is French press coffee?

This brew takes its name from the device used to make it: the French press. This simple, manual coffee maker allows coffee grounds to steep gently in just-boiled water. When brewing is complete, the mesh filter is pressed down to separate the brewed coffee from the grounds.

PREPARE YOUR BREW

Equipment

To make French press coffee, you will need:

FIND YOUR GRIND

Pick your French press grind size

Start with a coarse grind, then adjust as needed to brew your perfect cup.

CHOOSE YOUR BEANS

Find your French press flavour

01 / INDONESIA

Sumatra

A full-bodied, earthy profile with a syrupy mouthfeel, low acidity, and rich dark chocolate notes. A choice for a bold, heavy cup.

02 / SOUTH AMERICA

Colombia

A balanced profile with smooth cocoa, caramel, and gentle citrus undertones. Enjoy it with or without milk.

03 / CENTRAL AMERICA

Costa Rica

A bright yet sweet everyday cup, with notes of citrus, honey, and clean sweetness.

04 / NATURAL PROCESS

Ethiopia

Look for milk chocolate, jammy berry, and soft fruit notes in natural-processed coffees. These flavours can shine in an immersion brewer.

05 / CENTRAL AMERICA

Guatemala

A structured cup with praline, chocolate, and subtle tartness, suited to exploring single-origin coffee.

06 / ROAST LEVEL

Medium to medium-dark

Start here for a rich, balanced cup. Very dark roasts may taste overly burnt or bitter, while very light roasts can taste thin or sour if extraction needs adjusting.

Use these flavour profiles as a starting point. The beans, processing, roast, and brewing all shape the cup.
